Spilling the T
A blog of short t-shirt-inspired essays--with a little advice, humor, sarcasm, and sometimes even a touch of wisdom-- about all things life.
Welcome to “Spilling the T” by me, Nana-Ama Danquah. In this blog, I use the wisdom, humor, quotes, and pithy statements on the t-shirts in my closet as inspiration for micro-essays on all things life. I started posting these t-shirt essays, along with a photo of myself (usually a selfie) wearing a t-shirt from my collection, on social media. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and people encouraged me to start a blog…so here it is.
A little about my background: I am the author of Willow Weep for Me: A Black Woman's Journey Through Depression and the editor of four anthologies: Becoming American: Personal Essays by First Generation Immigrant Women (Hyperion); Shaking the Tree: New Fiction & Memoir by Black Women (Norton); The Black Body (Seven Stories Press); and, most recently, Accra Noir (Akashic). I am also a poet, essayist, fiction writer, book-a-holic, public speaker, actress, songwriter and, of course, avid t-shirt collector.
Once I am fully up and running, I will be posting new essays at least once per week, on Mondays.
